Our Mission:

Our mission is to obtain funds to "rescue", "restore", and "preserve" the building and grounds of  THE FIRST ACCREDITED BLACK HIGH SCHOOL IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA - the former home of Central Academy.  To honor the legacy of its PAST, uphold the remaining dignity of its PRESENT and secure its place in community, city, county, and state history for FUTURE generations.

Our Goals:

Obtain funds through fundraising, private donations and grants...

Rescue our alma mater from demolition...

Restore the building's utility, which was lost due to structural damages and many years of neglect..

Preserve its listing on the National Registry of  Historical Places...

Our Vision:  We are constantly reminded by others that this is "OUR" history.  So, as heirs and stewards of this legacy it is "OUR" responsibility to revive and secure it.  Not just for "OUR" African-American culture and history, but for the city, county, and state as well.  "OUR" future depends on it!

The building is strong and the foundation like its legacy is sound.  This building can be saved. The grounds where we, as children once played, yearn to  be relieved of gas fumes and oil spills to make way for basketball and tennis courts, a walking trail and ample parking for building occupants.  The First  Accredited Black High School in the State of Florida is within Palatka's African-American community.  We intend to cherish and maintain this honor.
